As you plan trek remember to pack warm wears, socks, hat, jacket sweater, rain comfortable walking shoes, sleeping bag, sun cream, insect repelant,rain resistant pants, long sleeved wears, head lamp etc. Porters are available at $24 and carry luggage of 15kgs,walking sticks are also available for hire though you can come with yours. Tipping depends on the person’s level of appreciation though it’s not a must. But other camping equipment can be hired at the mountain trek office at a fair price. Remember temperatures at the summit keep changing so you should be ready for whatever comes your way.
Cost of Nyiragongo trek

Foreign tourists who want to trek Nyiragongo as well as spend a night at the summit shelter pay $300 if adults and children pay $175.However, Congolese nationals pay $90 adults and children pay $25.
Best time to do Nyiragongo trek
Dry season is best for all treks and hikes and in Congo it’s assumed to start from June -October & December to march every year. Besides, it’s good to go for the trek during week days Monday-Thursday when everyone is at work unlike on weekends when some others are off for the weekend. Sometimes weekends are full so it becomes difficult for the rangers to book you in that are booking at last minute. Usually NGOs and special people use weekends as the right time for adventure. However, placing in your booking quite early makes life easy.
